Soccer City was opened in 1989. It is also known as FNB stadium. “The Calabash” is the nick name given to this stadium because it reminds you of the African gourd. Soccer city is situated in the Johannesburg, Africa. Previously it had the capacity of 94,700 people. Then it was revamped and now its capacity has become 94,700 people. Maximum strength of this stadium was 84,490 people during the world cup of FIFA 2010. Final of the World Cup of 2010 FIFA was also played in this stadium. Opening ceremony of FIFA world cup was organized here. Funeral of the Chris Hani was also organized here. It is a habitat of Kaizer Chiefs which is a football club.
